A message from Lindsay Gabriel

A huge congratulations to our KS2 children who attended the hockey tournament last week.  It was a pleasure to hear that the children all worked extremely well as a team and all enjoyed the experience.  KS1 children attended an indoor cricket competition and were taught lots of new skills by Holyrood coaches and students.  I am so pleased that the children are having these opportunities and chances to participate in competitions.  These tournaments will continue to be organised throughout the year so if you're child wasn't able to attend then there will be plenty of opportunity in the future.

Safeguarding is such an important matter at Winsham and so I would like to say a huge thank you to the NSPCC, and in particular to Tamsin, who delivered a KS1 assembly, KS2 assembly and a Year 5 and 6 workshop.  The children listened very carefully and responded very sensibly to some sensitive conversations. I look forward to seeing everyone in their number costumes on Friday 7th February for NSPCC number day!

Earlier this month we were able to inform you of the KS2 Summer residential trip and are very excited that we are organising a visit to London.  I am thrilled with the uptake of children.   A meeting with further information will be held very soon.

At Winsham we are very lucky to have so many volunteers who come and listen to children read to donating stationary items.  Mrs Judith Hill is kindly lending us some of her time to prune the Willow Tree at the field.  The children will have the exciting opportunity to use the offcuts to weave during the next month.  In addition, Miss Dobinson has secured 300 saplings from the Woodland Trust which will be delivered within the next few weeks and the children will be planting in their Outdoor Learning Sessions.   We would welcome any top-soil and bulbs to help build our planted area.

A Message From Miss Dobinson

Good morning, I cannot believe that we have had two weeks of home learning.  I know you would have had to adapt and change, which isn't always easy. I hope you have all enjoyed some of it and are continuing to grow and develop in your own way. We are all in a very strange situation, even the adults around you are unsure on what happens next and so we are very much all in this together - learning together. Over the next two weeks, it would normally be your Easter Holiday. Whilst there is no expectation to do work, I have made a folder for Easter activities, should you want something to do during the lock-down period.   I know that we will all at some point be frustrated that we can't go out, sad that we can't see those that we love and feel restricted and without freedom. However, take comfort in the knowledge that you are safe at home and that this is the perfect time to spend with your family.  Bake cakes, watch movies, make junk models, tell jokes, build things, make up games, share your interests, make music, plant flowers, teach each other something... the list is endless. Whatever you do, make sure you are relaxed and having fun. I look forward to re-connecting with you after the Easter Break but if needed I am never far away - Google Classroom is always open. Take Care of yourselves and of each other. Miss Dobinson     Sarah Dobinson Senior Lead Teacher, SENCo and DSL Winsham Primary School Redstart Learning PartnershipCategories: 1 CategorySchool News
