Message from Suzanne Flack CEO
Welcome back. It has been lovely to welcome everyone back after the summer break. The lovely weather has certainly added to the joy of the new term and on my visits to schools it has been lovely to see so many children learning outside. Schools have been fine tuning their curriculum offer and the pupils can all look forward to a year of exciting opportunities. Across the Trust we are focusing on reading so please look out for all the ways we will be inviting you to support our work. Reading with your children at home is key to their success. We will be sharing lots of ideas and resources with you so you can both support our work and have lots of fun.
I’d like to extend a special welcome to the pupils, staff and families at Stockland who look forward to their first full year with the Trust. Already Stockland is fully integrated into the Trust and is both receiving and providing support to other Trust schools. It is this partnership working which is so beneficial to all of our schools.
We’ve had a busy summer holiday upgrading facilities at many school sites. Over the last few years we’ve received almost £2 million pounds in additional funding to improve our buildings. Some of this has gone on work which can’t be seen but is much appreciated such as updating heating systems. Other improvements include new windows, roofs and the reconfiguration of Minerva to increase the size of the nursery.
As you know all schools are working within government guidelines but the changes have meant a return to some of our previous ways of working. This has had a really notable impact on our children who all look so happy and settled in their classrooms. We continue to work with Public Health England and follow their advice if we have a positive case. Fortunately we have had very few cases in our schools so far but we monitor this closely to ensure we are responding swiftly. Thank you for all your support with this. Clearly Covid has not gone away but I am very optimistic about the new school year.
