Winsham Primary School welcomes Bishop Ruth.  

When Winsham Primary School joined The Redstart Learning Partnership (TRLP) back in 2019 the Trust and the school worked with the Diocese of Bath and Wells to reinstate its Church of England (CofE)status.  Due to covid and a number of other circumstances it is only now that Bishop Ruth from the Diocese of Bath and Wells has been able to visit Winsham to present them with the official Diocese of Bath and Wells CofE plaque. 

It was a delightful morning.  The children of Winsham Primary entertained Bishop Ruth and the other visitors to a wonderful assembly with songs, beautiful pictures and their words on love, peace and their world.  After this Bishop Ruth delivered a mini-sermon to the staff and pupils delivering a passage from the bible, followed by prayer.  Bishop Ruth was wonderful with the children and even allowed Madison the opportunity to dress up in her Bishops mitre and cloak.  This was followed by the presentation of the plaque which will be displayed with pride at the school.

After the assembly the children, staff, Bishop Ruth and members of the Church decorated their very own tiles with the theme of 'Hope". The children had previously designed their tiles and enjoyed the opportunity of seeing them come to life.   

Caroline Lancey, Head of School said:  It was wonderful to host Bishop Ruth this morning and it feels like the school has been really welcomed into the diocesan family.   The children demonstrated so powerfully our vision of living in Faith, hope and love with their beautiful singing and creative writing.  Last week they asked the staff if they could do more for Ukraine and organised a cake and craft sale where they raised £170”.
